This newspaper is very liberally written. The title says, "A cauldron of anarchy" which is strong language but does not show any any race favorability. The subtitle is, "As mayhem escalates and corpses lie in streets, survivors and mayor beg for help", this is a true, equal statement. In another front page article its survivors are both referred to as survivors and refugees. The words used to describe them is "dazed refugees." The language within this article is not bias. The language used is not totally vague but also doesn't spark any immediate emotions. Some things included in this article are ways you can help and how some 'refugees' are finding 'welcome and hope' in Minnesota. The language they used here was positive if not just plain, safe wording. Because of how simple the language used is, I do not think race is a factor with these articles. Even if you just glance at the picture on the front page there are different races being represented and everyone seems to be helping someone in need - it doesn't appear to be any sort of violent anarchy. The focus of these articles is both to explain and inform people of the aftermath of Katrina and also talk about survivors coming here to Minnesota. The intended audience for these articles is really anyone who was interested or wanted to find out what was happening after the hurricane. The headlines on this newspaper probably wouldn't have a huge impact on its reader other than maybe having a lighter view on the aftermath or a less bias view than others out at the time. People were hearing horrible things on the news about the people of New Orleans after the hurricane but rarely heard the less extreme violence or good things happening there. This article probably provided some clarity. In my opinion, there was indeed a relationship between race and media coverage after hurricane Katrina but then in cases like this, it didn't apply. This article is not bias and is soley reporting on New Orlean's situation not just the extremely negative events taking place there so in this paper there was not a race and media coverage relationship.
